About Us

Our story begins in October of 2012 when a young couple found a place next to the Loboc River. It is the perfect location to teach an upcoming sport called stand-up paddleboarding and offer eco-adventure tours at the same time.   In 2013, the island of Bohol went through a devastating period of natural calamities.  That didn’t stop them to pursue their dreams and continue to live life normally even when the ground continued to rumble and shake from aftershocks.  They initially built three small cottages and called it Paddles Up Guesthouse. A year after, they adopted a pom-spitz puppy and named him “Fox'' and with the fireflies flying around the place at night, they decided to rename the place to Fox & The Firefly Cottages.  Fox & The Firefly Cottages now have 11 cottages, Santosha Yoga Shala, Food & Fables Café and outdoor activities still provided by SUP Tours Philippines.

Once you’re at Fox & The Firefly, you might bump into Fox and his furry family happily hanging out or playing in the garden or at the reception. On good occasions, the enigmatic Firefly may greet and surprise you when you turn off your lights in the room just before you sleep.

    Our Senior Tour Guide and ASI (Academy of Suring Instructors) certified SUP Instructor. John Ray has been with us since 2013 and is a local from our village. He can confidently guide and teach you about the sport of paddleboarding and mountain biking. You know you are in good hands with his years of experience and expertise.

    Our Head Cook at Food & Fables Café who lives in Loboc with her five children. Nelfa has been with us since 2012 and it is inspiring to see her evolve as a home cook to a cook that serves innovative and radical plant-based food alternatives in Bohol. Serving healthy food to guests from different walks of life makes her happy.

    Our Senior Waiter and Barista from Carmen, Bohol. He is innovative and strives for excellence. As a team leader, he trains and encourages his team to make great drinks and give impeccable service.

    Our youngest Tour Guide who is a local from Bohol. Always very enthusiastic to lead and guide. He has so much potential to be one of our best guides and instructors in the future under the guidance of his seniors.

    One of our most dependable Tour Guides and a local of Loboc. A smiley person who creates a warm and positive atmosphere to anyone he meets. A strong swimmer and confident in the water. He will keep it light and safe as you paddle the waters with him on our tours.

  • Delia

    The head of our Housekeeping Department. Delia is definitely not fond of dust and stains. She cleans up our rooms, common areas and makes sure her team can do the same work with utmost precision and attention to detail. Delia is a superwoman at this job and we are grateful for the care and cleanliness she provides to everyone staying in the resort.

    JM is a great host and the most hospitable waiter you will ever meet. He knows at least 5 languages which he practices and learns as a hobby during his free time. Our guests get fond of JM once they meet him. His talent, individuality and enthusiasm at work adds character and life to our place.

  • Winny

    Our trustworthy housekeeper and laundry attendant. Her careful hands make her a great custodian of our belongings and of our guests. She may be a small lady but her capabilities in the job paired with her big smile and a tender heart keep you feeling light and shiny inside when she’s around.

    Our hard-working Bar and Kitchen Assistant. Always willing to help and contribute to the service of our restaurant.. This lady can multi-task as she is also the Baranggay Secretary of our village. Inday together with her family have overcome many difficult challenges in recent years but her resilience and optimism is truly remarkable and inspirational.
